Pastor Derwin K. Poindexter

Pastor Derwin K. Poindexter is the only child born to Lloyd (deceased) and Maxine Poindexter of Gibson, Louisiana. He has been married to Peggy Skinner-Poindexter for 26 years. They have one son, Elexis and one daughter, Rodnea. Elder Poindexter was reared in the Baptist Church and baptized at an early age by the late Reverend Albert Royal of Beulah Baptist Church. He later went on to attend Southern University and earned a B.S. Degree in Chemistry and a M.S. Degree in Environmental Chemistry. He is also a graduate of Charles Harrison Mason Bible College. Elder Poindexter has humbly served at Guiding Light COGIC since its founding and inception in 2011, under the leadership of the Late Pastor G. W. Skinner. Elder Poindexter was appointed as Pastor of Guiding Light by Bishop James Proctor in February 2021. Elder Poindexter is a dedicated man of God who loves to serve. Jesus is the center of his life and he loves preaching God’s Word. He is an avid sportsman who loves serving the elderly, children and spending time helping others.
